Don L. Trust, 90
Don L. Trust, 90, of Bigfork, passed away May 3, 2009, after a courageous battle with pneumonia. Don was born to William and Faye Trust in Allentown, Ohio, March 6, 1919.
He later earned his associate's degree at the University of Arizona, where his education was cut short by World War II. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years. During that time, he flew the Privateer (PB 4Y2), then later served in the Korean War and eventually retired from the Navy as lieutenant commander.
Don spent 30 years as an engineer for the Los Angeles City Fire Department. During that time, he also owned and operated a building supply business for 33 years, which he built from the ground up.
Don enjoyed staying very active throughout his life. His love for life and passion to be active led him to move his family to a ranch in Riverside, Calif. Don loved spending time with family - fishing, traveling, woodworking, golfing and, of course, working around his ranch.
His love for golf eventually led him and his wife, Charlotte, to Bigfork, where he loved playing with the Roosters at Eagle Bend Golf Course.
He was preceded in death by his son, Philip, who was slain in the line of duty with the Riverside Police Department; and daughter-in-law, Beverly.
Don is survived by Charlotte, his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years; and sons, Kenneth and wife, Susan, of Bigfork, and Jerry of San Diego. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jason and wife, Shontay, Tammy, Brandon, Emily and fiance, Roger, Heather, and Torrey and husband, Trever; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Jera, Josh and Jordan.
The family suggests any memorial contributions be sent to the Bigfork Volunteer Fire Department at 810 Grand Drive, Bigfork, MT 59911.
