Peterson, Polson blank Glacier

For the first time in 15 games, Glacier failed to score a run.

"It was a tight game, a real pitchers' duel," Glacier coach Joel Bemis said.

"Both pitchers threw really well."

Final score - Polson 3, Glacier 0 - at the Kidsports Complex on Tuesday.

Polson hurler Dakota Peterson limited Glacier to a single, struck out 10 and issued five walks.

Glacier pitcher Kendra Bouley gave up six hits, three of which were doubles, fanned 11, walked one and hit two batters.

Polson's Sarah Newton, 2-for-4, doubled in a run in the third inning and Riley Kenney, 1-for-4, reached on an error, but drove in a run.

Kenney doubled in Polson's final runner, Staci Benson, 2-for-4, in the fifth. Benson reached on a single.

Polson improves to 11-2 overall.

Glacier had several scoring opportunities, but failed to capitalize. The Wolfpack stranded a runner at second in the first, third and sixth innings.

In the fifth, it loaded the bases with two outs.

"We couldn't hit the ball," Bemis said.

"That was the story of the game. We couldn't find any offensive rhythm at the plate."

The only other time Glacier failed to score this season was in its season opener - 6-0 in the first game of a doubleheader with Missoula Hellgate.

"Give a lot of credit to that pitcher," Bemis said of Peterson.

"And credit Polson's defense."

Bemis said Polson center fielder Riley Kenney made an all-star play in the fourth inning.

"Robbed a certain double, maybe a triple by Lyndsey Hoffenbacker," he said.

"A diving catch at the fence. That girl just dove, what a spectacular play."

Glacier, 6-10, continues with nonleague play on Thursday hosting Class A Libby.
