ANACONDA - There was an offensive blizzard to match one by the weather during Thursday's nonconference Class A softball game between Whitefish and Anaconda.

The Lady Bulldogs used a flurry of hits in the third inning to score seven runs just before a full blown snowstorm kicked in that delayed the game for over 20 minutes.

Whitefish held on to win 14-7 and improved to 6-7 overall with nine games left in the season.

"It was a blizzard, a total white-out. It was pretty amazing actually," Whitefish coach Alan Compton said.

"After that, the sun was shining."

Nicole Shelling shined from the batters box, collecting four RBIs for Whitefish. Carolyn Sharpe picked up the complete-game win from the circle and added two RBIs on offense.

Whitefish's Kaitlyn Wehrli, Hailey Mortensen and Kristi Whisler each chipped in two RBIs apiece.

"We hit early, got up on them early and just kept the pressure on them," Compton said.

"Everybody just did what we've been working on, which is nice to see."

Whitefish will play two games today and two games Saturday at the Butte Central Invitational.
