Evergreen man arrested

An Evergreen man was arrested Friday night in connection with the shooting death of a 42-year-old woman at his apartment.

Baron James Foster, 47, was taken into custody at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Montana 35 about 11:30 p.m. Friday. Foster, who has not been charged, is being held in the Flathead County Detention Center on suspicion of deliberate homicide.

According to investigators, deputies responding to the apartment complex found the woman shot in the head, reportedly with a handgun. She was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where she died shortly after her arrival.

Her name has not yet been released.

The shooting is believed to have occurred during an argument between Foster, who was arrested at the scene, and the alleged victim. Other people were in the apartment at the time. Alcohol was involved, according to investigative reports.

The woman's body has been taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy.

Foster has yet to make a court appearance. Further details were not available Saturday.
