Gladyce Evelyn Jewett, 90

Gladyce Evelyn Jewett, 90, of Kalispell, passed away of natural causes on May 7, 2009, in Missoula at the Village Health Care Center.

She was born July 30, 1918, in Havre, to Roy and Florence Hissong and moved to Somers as a young girl.  She grew up in Somers on the family's dairy farm and spent most of her free time swimming in Flathead Lake.

She met Gordon Jewett and was married in November 1939. The couple had three children and lived in Somers for years until moving to Kalispell.

She was a member of the Kalispell Music Club for many years, belonged to the Glacier Chorale and volunteered by singing at the Heritage House with her friend Barbara.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; son, Gary; and brothers, Harold, Robert, Orville "Buck," and William.

Survivors include son, Jan "Dewey" Jewett, of Missoula; daughter, Gail Jansen, of Wisconsin; brother, Roy Hissong, of Roseburg, Ore.; sisters, Minnie Krause of Whitefish, Marjorie "Mick" Dean of Clarkston, Idaho, and Doloris "Dode" of Somers; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Fred Krause. Pallbearers will be Bert Baldauf, Brandon Baldauf, Jim Boyd, Gordie Jewett, Ed Dimmitt and Dennis Bovee.
