Ferndale crash kills two Bigfork men

Two Bigfork men died Saturday evening went their car went off Montana 209 just west of Ferndale.

The two men were Mitchell A. Kopczyk, 50, and Richard W. Fliehler, 56, according to the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.

The Montana Highway Patrol said Kopczyk was driving east on Montana 209 at 9:30 p.m. with Fliehler as a passenger. As Kopczyk approached a slight right curve, he lost control of the car, and it went off the road to the right.

Both men were not wearing seat belts and were ejected, the patrol and sheriff's office said.

The Bigfork Fire Department and its ambulance responded.

The patrol is investigating the accident's cause.
