Frey nets top honor in soccer, again
Glacier senior Maddey Frey has been named the Western AA soccer Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
The standout forward had 12 goals and two assists this season and helped lead the Wolfpack to the state tournament for the second time in three years. Frey, who was also awarded all-state honors for the third straight year, accounted for all but nine of Glacier's goals this season.
Glacier had three all-state selections - Frey and junior goalkeeper Patty Hughes, and on the boys side, senior Seth Bumgarner.
Two all-state honorees came out of Flathead - junior Chelsea Shuman and sophomore Tess Brenneman.
This season, Shuman was one of the top scorers in the West with 10 goals, and also had three assists.
Glacier had three more girls earn all-conference honors - seniors Molly Benedetto and Sydney Sharaf and junior Liana Bates.
Flathead's Stephanie Brewer, a junior, grabbed all-conference honors as well.
For boys, Flathead seniors Cody Morritt and Jerrad Merrill were awarded all-conference along with Glacier senior Josh Neiman.
