Pamela Jane Patrick Langley, 62

Pamela Jane Patrick Langley, 62, of Missoula, died of complications of airway obstruction, Wednesday at St. Peter s Hospital in Helena. Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer s Lutheran Church in Helena. Cremation has taken place and her ashes are to be interred near her brothers graves in Havre. Pamela was born March 11, 1947, in Havre, the eldest child of Clarence and Ruth Patrick, and grew up on a farm at Rudyard where she graduated from high school in 1965. In 1969, she graduated from the University of Montana, Missoula, with Bachelor of Arts degrees in journalism and home economics. She taught home economics, journalism and science at Lincoln County High School, Eureka, from 1969 to 1971, and spent the summer of 1970 as a reporter at the Daily Inter Lake, before returning to the UM on a graduate assistantship in journalism in 1971. In 1972, she was married to Gary Langley and they moved to Helena where she worked for the Associated Press, and then what is now Qwest in public relations, before teaching journalism and English for six years at Helena High School. In 1980, she completed a Master of Arts degree in journalism at the University of Montana. Pamela began a career in association management in 1981, working for the Professional Insurance Agents of Montana and later for the Montana Agriculture Business Association, the Montana Grain Elevator Association, the Montana Seed Trade Association and the Association of Montana Turf and Ornamental Professionals. After leaving teaching in 1981, she was elected three times to the Helena School Board of Trustees beginning in 1985, continuing her commitment to education. She also was elected as a Republican precinct committeewoman in Lewis and Clark County several times and as a member of the Montana Republican State Central Committee from Lincoln County. Pamela was the proud mother of two children, Jeff and Kari, and grandchildren, Byron and Brenden. She is also survived by her mother, Ruth Patrick; sister, Peggy Patrick; and brother, Scott Patrick. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence; and brothers, Lowell and Kenny. Memorials are suggested to the grandchildren s college fund at Valley Bank in Helena.
