William John Ashton, 83

William John Ashton, 83, passed away on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Brendan House in Kalispell. He was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Hopewell, N.J., to Elijah Rittenhouse and Ethel (Sked) Ashton. William graduated from the University of Virginia, and received his Master of Business Administration degree from New York University. He served during World War II in the Canine Corps. On Sept. 10, 1955, he married his loving wife, Nancy (Wallace) Ashton, in New York City. William enjoyed fishing, chocolate, history and storytelling. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ashton, of Kalispell and Carefree, Ariz.; two daughters, Lisa Ashton Lindsay of Milwaukee, Wis., and Cary Ashton Saunders and husband, Peter, of Kalispell; a son, Mark D. Ashton, of Arlington, Va.; a sister, Janet Ashton Arrington, of Princeton, N.J.; three grandchildren; and other extended family. Memorial services for William will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, at Christ Church Episcopal in Kalispell. There will be no visitation.
