Larry Wilson, owner of River Bend Ranch in Bigfork, was the subject of a Nov. 9 article in Time magazine about his work in the radio business.

Wilson, who also owns a ranch in Augusta, Mont., and a riverfront apartment in Portland, Ore., started Citadel Communications Corp. in Tucson, Ariz., in 1984 when he purchased two radio stations there.

By 2001, the company had grown to 205 stations in 42 cities that Wilson sold for $2 billion in cash to private-equity firm Forstmann Little & Co.

In 2008, Wilson decided to get back into the radio business.

His new venture, Alpha Broadcasting, bought six Portland radio stations, including two from Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, for $50 million.

As soon as his revenue reaches $10 million, Wilson plans to buy in another unspecified city.
