Lawrence Mc. Larry Roper, 60

Lawrence Mc. Larry Roper, 60, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at his home in Bigfork. Larry was born on July 3, 1949, in Oakland, Calif., to Frank and June Karstadt Roper. He was raised in England, Hawaii and the Washington, D.C. area. He was married three times, to Kathleen Zapolski, and they had a son, Sean; Jody Brodsten; and Carolin Travis. He had some college. He served for several years in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he worked in the search and rescue division. He worked most of his life in sales, then transitioned into assisted living as a certified nurses assistant, working for Immanuel Lutheran Home at the end of his professional career. He was a member of the Bigfork Gun Club. He loved shooting, fishing, and most of all, he loved to get a free meal. He truly loved people and he never wanted to be a burden. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two of his wives, Kathleen and Carolin. He is survived by his son, Sean Roper; and his twin brother, Frank Roper. He also leaves behind his kids (three dogs), Cody, Tillie and Harley. A celebration of Larry s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, with Rev. Ron Pierce officiating.
