Carrol Gene Bud Burroughs, 79, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Heritage Place in Kalispell. Bud was born on Feb. 12, 1930, in St. Louis, to Bertha Burroughs. Bud s mother Bertha passed away shortly after his birth, and he was raised by his maternal family in Fairfield, Ill. Bud moved to Bakersfield, Calif., when he was 17 years old. He enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was 18, and made a career in the military. He served in Germany, where he met and married Alfrieda. They had a son, Charles, who now resides in California. Bud later got divorced and married Bonnie. They were married for 28 years, when Bonnie passed away. He moved to Montana, and married Delores. They were married for two years, when she passed away. After he retired from the U.S. Army, he worked for United Airlines and Chevron Oil. He loved electronics. Bud s health began to decline so he moved into Greenwood Assisted Living, where he was well cared for by Dennis Rasmussen and their staff. Because he needed nursing care, he moved into Heritage Place for a short while. He went to sleep in death Nov. 17, at 8 p.m., from congestive heart failure. He shared his hope of Jehovah with all interested people for many years. He is survived by his cousin, Betty Desjardins, and her husband, John, of Kalispell; a second cousin, Jim Vastbinder, and his wife, Sam, and their three children, Hunter, Calder and Lily, all of Kalispell; a cousin, Barbara Poppe, and family, of Illinois; second cousins, Julie Knight and husband Kurt of Arizona, Paul Morris and wife Linda, and Steve Morris, all of Bakersfield; and extended family and friends in Sacramento, Calif. Bud had requested that he be cremated and that no services were to be held. His ashes will be placed in the Pacific Ocean near his departed wife by his son Charles.
