Boy leads police on chase in stolen car

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies gave chase early Thursday morning to a 16-year-old boy who allegedly fled from authorities in a stolen car. Deputies and city police pursued the boy eastbound on U.S. 2 through the city Columbia Falls. The teenager had reportedly taken his parents’ car to Chester before he ditched it, stole a Ford Mustang, and then returned to the Flathead. He lost control and crashed the car near the Flathead River bridge. He later was arrested by Kalispell police and taken to the hospital with an arm injury suffered in the crash.

A man and woman on Houston Drive got into an argument. The man was given a ride to another residence.

Deputies nabbed a suspected poacher with a whitetail doe in the back of his truck during a traffic stop on Bigfork Stage Road.

A Shady Lane man was afraid that hunters on nearby state land were shooting toward his house. The hunters were gone when deputies arrived, but reportedly returned and threatened the man for calling authorities.

Deputies responded to Wishart Road after a resident called animal wardens because a woodpecker got stuck in a stovepipe.

An injured raccoon on Trail’s End Drive was dispatched by a neighbor before animal wardens arrived.

Deputies received 110 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

A young Eider Drive boy called Kalispell police because his brother allegedly was chasing him around the house with a steak knife. The boys’ father returned, settling the argument.

Large amounts of glass were discovered in the driveway of a First Street West home.

A man reportedly showed up at a Seventh Avenue West home, threatened the residents, then left on foot.

Someone used a marker to write on a Third Avenue West man’s car. His girlfriend’s car also was written on.

Cars and a residence on Glacier Circle were egged sometime over Wednesday night.

A man was accused of threatening another man at a restaurant on West Idaho Street. But the words used weren’t really threatening, and the situation apparently only arose because the alleged victim insulted the suspect’s mother.

Someone, reportedly of Russian descent, punched a man in the face and broke his phone during an altercation on Fifth Avenue West. 

Officers received 57 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Whitefish police arrested a 28-year-old man on an outstanding warrant for drug possession after he was spotted urinating behind a Central Avenue bar.

Someone threw a rock through the front window of a real estate agency on Second Street.

Officers received 21 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of assault during a domestic disturbance on Seventh Street West.

Officers received 20 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

            Alarms

The Creston Fire Department and Bigfork Ambulance were paged out to Riverside Road after a car ran into a utility pole. Responders found blood in the vehicle, but no one was around.

The Columbia Falls Fire Department was dispatched to an area fiberboard plant after a pile of sawdust was observed burning.
