Whitefish police arrested an extremely intoxicated 39-year-old man about 9 p.m. Saturday after a bartender reported to police that the man had his 5-year-old son with him while he was drinking. Police said the bartender served him one drink, then removed it from the bar when he realized how intoxicated the man was and that the boy was with him.

When police arrived, they said, the man could not stand up long enough for questioning, so they took him into custody. The young boy stayed with dispatchers at the station until his mother could pick him up. The man was cited for disorderly conduct, and endangering/abandonment/neglect for the treatment of his son.
