A blast of snow and Arctic air roared into the Flathead Valley late Thursday, and residents woke up to snow and icy roads on Friday. Cold weather will continue through the weekend, with high temperatures barely at the freezing mark and lows of around 4 degrees.

Kalispell schools joined hundreds of others across the nation as part of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record program, a national campaign to support literacy, in an effort to break the world record for the largest number of children participating in a read-aloud of the same book on the same day.
