Series looks at 're-powering'
A presentation Thursday night on meeting local electricity needs is the first in a seven-part series, Re-Powering the Flathead for a New Energy Economy.
Thursday's session will be at 7 p.m. in Arts and Technology Building, Room 139.
The subject is the 2011 move by Bonneville Power Administration to cap the amount of hydropower it will sell to the Flathead Electric Cooperative.
That will decrease the supply of low-cost electricity and may affect local rates.
Flathead Electric Cooperative is the host for Thursday's session, which includes an opportunity for questions and answers.
Later sessions are planned Nov. 19 and Dec. 17, with topics including energy jobs and energy upgrades in schools.
Other sessions are planned January through April 2010.
The Re-Powering the Flathead series aims to foster a community dialogue on energy issues and opportunities.
