Verdella McCulloch, 100

Verdella McCulloch, 100, died on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She was born March 3, 1909, in Ovid, Mich., to David and Cora Link. Verdella moved from Michigan to Malta as a young child. During the time she lived in the Flathead Valley, she and her husband Al operated Art s Cafe/Robertson s Restaurant in Whitefish where she was known for her wonderful pies and pastries. She and Al also operated restaurants in Kevin, Shelby, Hungry Horse, Kalispell and Glasgow. While living in Whitefish, she was Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and President of Toastmistress. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Al Robertson, Burnett Smith and Robert McCulloch. She is survived by her four children, Dennis and Peg Robertson, and Arlen and Jim Madole, all of Surprise, Ariz., David and Kathy Robertson of Somers, and Kathy and Joe Tonkovich of Medford, Ore. She also leaves 10 grandchildren. Interment was private. Donations in her memory may be made to the North Valley Food Bank, 311 First St., Whitefish, MT 59937; or a favorite charity.
