A caller told Flathead County Sheriff's deputies that a chimpanzee beat up a man and his dog in the Lakeside area. The caller, who wished to remain anonymous and didn't want a return phone call, just wanted authorities to know about the loose primate.
Three transients, who also happen to be brothers, sat on a bench outside a Lakeside store drinking beer and being generally disruptive. Deputies were back to deal with the trio about five hours later after one of them was spotted urinating on the outside of a nearby casino. They were told to move along.

The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to a broken gas line on Lakeshore Drive.
No one was injured when a car ran off the road and into a tree while navigating the Bad Rock Canyon area. The ALERT helicopter, Hungry Horse Fire Department, and Canyon Quick Response Unit responded.
