Barton, Blakemore medal in golf outing

Joe Blakemore of Whitefish shot 77 and Taylor Barton of Libby 106 to claim boys and girls medalist honors on Tuesday in a high school golf outing at Meadow Lake Resort.

Blakemore edged Tanner Lineberry of Columbia Falls by a stroke, as did Barton over teammate Candace Hendrickson.

"Joe Blakemore had a great shootout with Tanner Lineberry," Columbia Falls coach Gene Marcille said.

"Both played really well; they both had outstanding afternoons. It was fun to see that."

Columbia Falls (357), with two golfers in the top five, edged Whitefish by a single stroke for the team title.

Columbia Falls' Parker Johnson, 88, finished fourth.

Meadow Lake is the site for the Northwestern A divisional golf tournament on Oct. 1
