C-Falls runners 2nd at King Ranch

FRENCHTOWN - The runners from Columbia Falls continue to sizzle on the cross country circuit.
Both the boys and girls finished a close second on the team front at the King Ranch Invitational on a hot Tuesday afternoon.
The Wildkats, thanks to three runners in the top 10 - Leesa Benner, 21:15, fifth; Nicki Moser, 21:19, seventh; and Jinise Osborne, 21:33, ninth - pushed Hamilton hard, losing 58-60.
The Wildcats, also with three runners in the top 10 - Shawn Whitman, 16:48, sixth; Patric Jessat, 16:59, seventh; and Justin Whitman, 17:20, eighth - came up one-point short behind Loyola, who won it with a team total of 67.
"Three girls in the top 10, they ran fabulous," Columbia Falls coach Richard Menicke said.
Benner, Moser and Osborne were separated by just 18 seconds.
Menicke said his boys had another strong performance.
"I'd like to compliment those (top) three. All three are running like all-state athletes."
