High School Volleyball: Eureka, Libby, Polson, Bigfork all win in 3

MISSOULA - Carly Hammond totaled 15 kills and Tayler Holder 10 as Eureka dumped Valley Christian 25-16, 25-12, 25-12 in Class B nonconference volleyball play Thursday.

"The kids just took care of business," Eureka coach Rhonda Hammond said.

"Tayler Holder had an outstanding all-around game."

Holder led Eureka, 6-1 overall, in aces with seven.

Columbia Falls 0

LIBBY - Jackie Mee finished with 12 kills, 10 digs and four aces to guide Libby to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-18 Northwestern A victory.

"It was nice to play at home," Libby coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said.

"We had a pretty decent crowd here, they were energetic. It was good to get a win in three."

Libby, 2-0 league and 3-0 overall, was playing at home for just the second time this season.

Alysha Martin tied Mee for the team high in aces, four, and she also had seven kills.

Brooke Cady and Kayla DeWit both had seven kills for Columbia Falls.

THOMPSON FALLS - Polson used a big advantage at the net to crush Thompson Falls 25-11, 25-15, 25-20 in nonconference play.

Polson held a big edge in kills, 38-10, led by Nicole Davey with 10.

Breanne Kelley had two blocks and five aces for the Pirates.

Bigfork 3, Mission 0

BIGFORK - Nikie Bilodeau had six blocks, Claire Wilken had 10 digs, four aces and 12 assists, and the Bigfork Vals defeated Mission 25-23, 25-20 and 25-18 in 7B action.

"It was a struggle because Mission is a bigger team than we are, and they had some pretty tall girls but we just came out agressive and never allowed them to get into their offense," Bigfork coach Tammi McDaniel said.

The Vals came back to win in the second game after being down 17-8 and improved to 3-1 in conference and 4-2 overall.

Bigfork heads to Superior on Saturday.
