'Death threat' just a misunderstanding

Thinking his ex-girlfriend had plans to harm him, a man called police. Upon investigation, Kalispell Police determined he had overheard the woman saying the words “knife” and “kill” and apparently misunderstood their meaning.

A cell phone retailer’s employee on U.S. 93 North saw a couple in a nearby parking lot apparently physically fighting Tuesday afternoon. The man allegedly pulled the woman by the hair, grabbed her arm and cussed at her. They were gone when officers arrived.

An man said his ex-wife’s boyfriend threatened him while they were at his daughter’s volleyball game at a school on Third Avenue West Tuesday evening. Officers counseled the two.

A transient hanging out behind an East Idaho auto dealership was asked to move along around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers received 44 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Stopping by a Riverside Drive residence to pick up his car Wednesday morning, a man was dismayed to find it hadn’t yet been painted. After calling Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies, he learned the man who was supposed to paint the car was apparently in prison. The paint was nowhere to be found.

Possibly sustaining a broken leg after it was hit by a car, a dog was taken to a veterinarian on Bierney Creek Road at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. There, the dog was reunited with its owner.

A Poplar Drive resident called deputies at 1:25 a.m. Wednesday after hearing someone knocking on the door and jiggling the handle. Deputies did not locate any tracks or any suspicious persons near the residence.

 Tracks through a field near Beartrap Road and wire broken on a horse fence may possibly be related to a neighborhood dispute, according to deputies.

Deputies received 131 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Whitefish Police received 10 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Columbia Falls Police received 9 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Alarms

Kalispell Ambulance transported one person in unknown condition to Kalispell Regional Medical Center just before 8 a.m. Wednesday after an automobile accident along Montana 82.

Although a vehicle was found on its top in a field near the junction of U.S. 2 and Montana 40, Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies said it wasn’t an accident. Montana Highway Patrol is investigating.

A tree fell on a power line in Martin City, shorting it out Tuesday evening. Flathead Electric handled the matter.

A tree fell on U.S. 93 near Olney, covered about 75 percent of the road, but didn’t hurt anyone. It was removed early Wednesday morning by the Department of Transportation.
