Glacier's Frey wins three events, earns sprint honors

GREAT FALLS - Maddey Frey remained unbeaten on the track this season and was named MVP in sprints at the Great Falls Optimist Club Invitational on Saturday.

The Glacier senior won the 100 in 12.64 and clocked 26.94 in the 200 despite ill weather.

Both times are tops in AA across the state.

Frey also won the long jump (17-4 3/4). She was the lone triple-event winner at the 14-team AA girls meet.

"She just keeps getting better. I'm in awe," Glacier coach Jerry Boschee said.

The Glacier girls picked up fourth place with 71.5 points and Flathead earned seventh with 45.

Billings West won as a team with 105.

Glacier's Lexy Boschee won the high jump (5-6), took second in the triple jump and third in the long.

Flathead's Tess Brenneman also placed in three events, winning the 400 (59.34) and finishing fourth in the 100 and long jump. Teammate Makayla Moore took third in the triple jump and Kwyn Johnson finished fifth.

The Flathead girls 1,600 relay team placed third and Glacier was sixth. The Bravettes were fifth in the 400 relay.

Glacier's Katie Pilsch qualified for state in the shot put after throwing 35-4. Stacey Pitt took third in the pole vault.
