East-side road closed for three weeks

The East-side Hungry Horse Reservoir Road (Forest Road 38) will be closed at milepost 13, Lost Mare Creek, beginning Thursday, Aug. 5, through Aug. 26.

The closure is to accommodate a culvert replacement project.    

During the closure, Riverside Boat Launch, Murray Bay Campground, Spotted Bear Ranger Station and numerous other recreation areas along the east side of the reservoir will be accessible only via the West-side Hungry Horse Reservoir Road (Forest Road 895).  

Emery Bay Campground and Abbott Bay Boat Launch can be reached from the East-side Road.

Anyone traveling the West-side Road is reminded to drive with caution as there is increased truck traffic on the road due to the Vistas Timber Sale along the reservoir and other forest projects.      

Forest users are encouraged to plan ahead when recreating and traveling in the Hungry Horse Reservoir Area due to numerous work activities involving temporary road closures or access changes.
