Man waving knife around train

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance that occurred aboard an Amtrak train Saturday morning, involving a man who was waving a knife around. The incident prompted the train to stop at the Izaak Walton Inn near Essex for law enforcement assistance. The man was detained and taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.

A woman called from a business on U.S. 2 just west of Kalispell to report that a man had hit her in the face. She hung up but called back and made the same claims. The man, 45 was arrested for partner-family member assault, a probation violation and on a warrant.

A woman calling from a residence on Montana 35 in the Bigfork area said her son was enraged and trying to knock down the front door. He was gone when deputies arrived.

Sunday morning, a woman reported from a Cougar Trail residence in the Whitefish that her husband had been knocked off a bicycle by three rampaging dogs.

There was a report of a pumphouse being vandalized at a property off Montana 35 just east of the Flathead River, with about $2,500 in damage.

Kalispell Police got a report from the 400 block of Fourth Avenue East Sunday about a suspicious man who approached a boy and tried to grab his hand, and a woman said she saw it happen. An officer who located and spoke with the man determined he may have been intoxicated or possibly has a medical problem.

Someone reported a burglary, with prescription drugs missing, at a residence on Appleway Drive.

There was a domestic disturbance involving a pregnant woman and man at the 600 block of Third Avenue West North. The man said she hit him in the back of the head and his hand was bleeding from a pitcher she threw at him. Apparently no one was arrested, but the incident is under investigation.

Someone reported the theft of a Blackberry cell phone from the 600 block of Third Avenue West North.

Late Sunday, there was a report of an unresponsive 48-year-old man laying on a lawn on the 700 block of Second Street West. The man was taken to the emergency room for treatment.

Responding to a report of a man who was in possession of a stolen laptop computer at the 300 block of First Avenue East, an officer arrested the man, 21, for possessing stolen property and obstructing an officer.

Monday morning, someone reported that a car had been broken into at a store parking lot on the 2300 block of U.S. 93 North.

A woman reported that her daughter and her friends totally wrecked her yard and flower pots on the 100 block of Sixth Avenue West North.

A resident on the 1000 block of Fourth Street West reported the theft of a flag from the yard.

Officers checked on a suspicious man who could barely stay on a bicycle on the 500 block of East Idaho. He was cited after he was seen riding into traffic and causing some damage to property.

Someone reported that items were stolen from a vehicle on the 200 block of Empire Loop.

A person calling from the 300 block of First Avenue East reported the theft of a bicycle.

There was a report of disorderly, unwanted man who refused to put his cigarette out at a convenience store on the 400 block of West Idaho. He was warned not to return.
