Horn to play for Bobcats

Current Glacier High senior Joel Horn recently made a verbal commitment to play football for Montana State University in 2011.

The 6-foot-5 lineman was second-team all-state and first-team all-conference last year for the 7-4 Wolfpack. Horn earned a commitment award after being one of only six juniors to have perfect attendance and participation at season practices.

"He showed enough last year as a junior that (universities) started to get interested," Glacier head coach Grady Bennett said. "I think when you look at the lineman in the state, he's one of the best."

Horn, who plans on studying engineering, will be a third-generation Montana State student. In fact, Horn was born in Bozeman when his mother, Kelly (Walker) and father, Brant, were attending school.

Horn will be one of the leaders for Glacier this year as it looks to return to the playoffs for the second year in a row.

Horn joins a long list of Kalispell natives who have suited up for the Bobcats, including current players Dan Ogden, Bryce Stacy and former Glacier teammate Taylor Graham.

"I know he can play at that level," Bennett said.

"At that level, no matter what, you have to have size ... But besides the size, I think what I like about him is he is such a nice, laidback kid. But when he gets on the football field he plays hard and he's not afraid to get after it."
