Mandi Rae Hayen, 24, died unexpectedly of natural causes in Ellendale, N.D., early in the morning on Aug. 7, 2010. She was born on Aug. 13, 1985, in Kalispell. As Mandi grew up in the Flathead Valley, she attended local schools, from elementary up through graduation at Flathead High School, being at the top of her class. She graduated with honors in 2003. During her years of schooling, Mandi found joy and love by accepting a relationship with God. She spent the majority of her time with the youth group of the Christian Center, pouring herself into singing, drama and having fun. She started her ministry here, and continued it and her education at Trinity Bible College in Ellendale. Here she received her degrees in ministerial studies, Biblical studies, psychology and counseling, and graduated with highest honors, magna cum laude, in December of 2008. Mandi loved sports of all kinds, including softball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, sand volleyball and so many others. She loved to be outdoors floating on the river, camping with her friends and family, and bringing laughter to any gathering. Mandi was dedicated to loving and helping people know and love God as much as she did, no matter what form it came in. In the last couple of hours, she was still talking about spreading the love of God to all those that she loves. Each day of Mandi's life was completely filled to the fullest, and equaled a year for a day. She was able to obtain the life experiences and wisdom that we all so long for in the short time she was here. In God's eyes, she had reached perfection. Her life was a celebration for God, and we would like her death to be as well. Mandi was preceded in death by grandparents, Bill and Betty Hayen, and John and Alice Toren; and brothers, Steven John and Conner James. She is survived by her parents, Stew Hayen, and Rick and Marge Berland; siblings, Richard Berland, Shandi Berland, and twin sister, Misti, and her husband, Jonas Musgrave, and younger sister, Nicole; nephews and nieces, Bradlee, Randi, Leshaun, Trenton John, McKenna and Bryant; godson, Milo Anderson, son of Amber and Matthew Anderson; and relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Mandi always said that her wedding would be in flip-flops and shorts. So, in honor of her ultimate wedding to Jesus today, we want to honor her wish. We ask you to come in flip-flops and shorts, or your casual attire, to be a part of this celebration of life that is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 16, at the Christian Center Assembly of God in Kalispell. To continue Mandi's ministry, please make any donations to a youth group or organization of your choice. Two memorial funds have been set up in Mandi's name through Christian Center and Trinity Bible College. Please come and celebrate her death as much as we all celebrated her life. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for Mandi's family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to view Mandi's tribute wall and offer condolences.
