A software glitch at Glacier High School deleted almost 1,200 student class schedules Monday night.

Schoolmaster, the program Kalispell Public Schools uses, among other things, to generate and store student schedules, had a “software issue” around 6 p.m. Monday, according to an e-mail Principal Callie Langohr sent to parents of Glacier High students Tuesday.

“As bad as that might sound on initial blush, we are OK because all Schoolmaster information is backed up on the server,” Langohr wrote.

The school retrieved the deleted schedules from the server Tuesday morning and restored them in Schoolmaster.

District officials know what the software issue was, and it has been corrected so it won’t happen again, Langohr said Wednesday. Only Glacier High School was affected by the glitch.

While she is confident that all schedules have been restored, Langohr said she wants to ensure “everything is airtight.” The school is asking parents to verify their students’ schedules with school counselors.

“We want to do one more double check to make sure we are back to exactly where we want to be,” Langohr said Wednesday. “We’re just wanting to provide service above and beyond — we’re just making sure.”

Parents are asked to provide their student’s name, grade, and a class title and instructor name for each of the school day’s seven periods.

Parents may e-mail their children’s class schedules to one of the following counselors:
