Police: Watch out for counterfeit bills

The Kalispell Police Department is warning businesses and residents to be aware that counterfeit $50 bills might be circulating in the area. A local business received two bills that contained the same serial number of II01762957A, according to a release. It is a somewhat common practice to counterfeit in large quantities, so police say businesses should be vigilant. People who receive a counterfeit bill are asked to call Kalispell police at 758-7780.

Police chased a group of people seen leaving Foys Lake with beer on top of their vehicle. A caller said the vehicle was traveling at speeds of 100 mph. They ditched the vehicle and fled on foot near Willow Creek Trail, but one woman was caught by police.

A woman received a threatening note at a business near U.S. 2 West.

A 4-year-old and a 12-year-old were counseled  after their mother called police when they wouldn’t listen to her.

A boy was cited and released to his mother after he was caught shoplifting at a business on U.S. 93 North.

About $1,200 worth of forged checks were reported near First Avenue East North.

Someone called and told police they had received unsolicited pornography on a computer near Fourth Avenue West.

Officers determined a crime had not been committed after a woman reported that a man holding a sign with the words “Jesus loves you” was making advances toward women near the fairgrounds.

A baby was unharmed after being locked in a vehicle on North Meridian Road. The mother was able to unlock the vehicle before officers arrived.

A caller saw a man on Hutton Ranch Road “throwing children into a vehicle.” The caller said he would beat the man up if it happened again.

Campers attempted to rescue a dog stranded on an island in the Flathead River near Montana 35. A kayaker eventually called the owner after finding a phone number on the dog’s collar.

Boys were told to go home after someone said they threw fireworks at them on Liberty Street. A separate caller said four boys were also seen letting the air out of vehicle tires on the same street.

An amorous couple on West Idaho Street told police they had done nothing wrong after someone reported they were getting a little too frisky in a car.

Alarms

Kalispell Fire Department personnel responded after smoke was seen rising from the roof of Kalispell Regional Medical Center Saturday morning. Officials on the scene said there didn’t appear to be a fire. It’s possible the smoke came from the building’s heating and cooling system.

A four-vehicle collision near the intersection of Third Avenue East North and East Idaho Street resulted in a head injury for one motorist.
