McConnell, Platke lead Whitefish golfers

GREAT FALLS — Make that three straight for Kiley McConnell.

The Whitefish senior won her third straight medalist title of the fall high school golf season Tuesday by defeating Katie Fish of C.M. Russell in a scorecard playoff at the Great Falls Invitational.

McConnell shot 74-82-156 in the two-day event, while Fish shot 75-81—156.

 McConnell’s effort helped Class A Whitefish finish third in a field dominated by Class AA schools.

C.M. Russell, 651, claimed the team title followed by Bozeman, 665, and Whitefish, 731.

Glacier, 817, was 12th and Flathead 15th, 836.

Reed Platke, 70-72—142, of Whitefish was the runner-up in boys individual play, finishing seven shots behind Brandon McIver of Billings West, 68-67—135.

Glacier had two individuals place in the top 10. Ryan Porch, 71-74—145, tied for fourth and Logan Iverson, 79-73—152, tied for 10th.

Glacier, 620, finished third in the team standings behind Billings West, 584, and Billings Senior, 609.

Whitefish, 637, was sixth and Flathead, 655, 12th.
