Pirates stun Broncs

FRENCHTOWN - Vince DiGiallonardo threw a pair of touchdown passes and Jake Skelton added a touchdown on a short run as Polson opened the Class A football season with a 21-16 victory over defending state champ Frenchtown on Friday.

DiGiallonardo hit Kyle Bagnell on TD strikes of 60 and 30 yards in the second quarter to take a 14-7 lead at the half.

Skelton had a 6-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Frenchtown came into the contest with an eight-game winning streak.

Ronan 28, Browning 14

BROWNING - Robbie Gauthier passed for a touchdown and ran for one as the Ronan Chiefs defeated Browning in nonconference Class A football on Friday.

Gauthier connected with Gordon North Piegan for a 9-yard touchdown in the first quarter and notched a 3-yard scoring run in the third to make it 20-8.

In the third, Ronan's Marcus Hungerford broke away for a 56-yard TD run. Jack Humphreys had Ronan's other score, a 35-yard run.

Charles Old Chief scored Browning's first TD with a 38-yard run and Curt Red Crowd caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Zach Wagner in the fourth.
