Effie Enneberg Cato, 76

| December 9, 2010 2:00 AM

Effie Enneberg Cato “entered eternal rest” on Dec. 6, 2010, at her home in Garden Ridge, Texas.

She was born March 13, 1934, to Ole and Olga Enneberg at home near Kevin. She graduated from Cut Bank High School, and from Montana State University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics.

She worked as a county home agent in Hamilton, Sundance, Wyo., and Roswell, N.M., where she met the love of her life, Paul L. Cato. They were married Dec. 15, 1962, at the First Presbyterian Church in Roswell. Paul’s work took them to Hobbs, Fort Worth, Texas, Houston and San Antonio, Texas.

Two sons, David Paul and Neil Alan, were born in Fort Worth, and son Eric Amiel was born in Houston.

Effie was active in various school projects, the American Home Economics Association and the Weavers Guild in San Antonio and Kalispell, and was also a deacon in the Presbyterian Church USA. Her passions were cooking, sewing, weaving and making porcelain dolls.

After retiring, they built their retirement home at Meadow Lake Golf Course in Columbia Falls. In June 2007, Effie was diagnosed with CBGD, an atypical Parkinson’s. They then decided to move back to Texas to be near their grandchildren, Neil Jr., and Madison. After a very difficult struggle with CBGD, “God called her home” on Dec. 6.

She is survived by her husband, Paul, of 48 years; and sons, David of Oregon, Neil and his wife Jacqueline of Texas, and Eric of Colorado. Surviving siblings are Alice Myron of Great Falls, Rita Schrader of Cascade, Esther Schwecke of Great Falls, Gary Enneberg of Cut Bank, and Duane Enneberg of Kevin.

The family is grateful for VistaCare Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.

A private memorial will be held at a later date at the family home.
