Prep Basketball: Sentinel steamrolls Flathead
MISSOULA — The Braves went cold on offense against a Sentinel squad eager to regain its winning swagger.
Kendal Maier had 14 of his 20 points by halftime and the Spartans went on a 14-0 run in the second quarter, and Sentinel cruised to a 65-29 Western AA victory on Thursday. The Spartans snapped a two-game skid and improved to 6-2 in league and 9-7 overall and while the Braves drop to 4-3 in league and 8-6 overall.
George Sherwood paced Flathead with 10 points and Karl Ingram followed with six. The Braves tied their low-scoring mark of the season with 29 points, which they also scored against C. M. Russell earlier this season. On Thursday, the team’s second-leading scorer Tanner Salois was out because of a toe infection.
Flathead hosts Missoula Big Sky on Saturday.

POLSON — Kyle Bagnell scored 29 points, Louis Mohr had 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and the Polson Pirates steamrolled Eureka with their best offensive output of the season in nonconference action.
Bagnell sank six 3-pointers in the game and Mohr, in his second game back this season, chipped in three. Polson had 14 as a team and scored at least 22 points in the opening three quarters.
“We shot the ball really well tonight,” Polson coach Brad Pluff said. “Defensively we played well and we got up and down the floor like we like to do.”
Ryan Holder scored 22 and Tanner Blankers added 12 for Eureka (3-14).
Tim Rausch added 13 points and Sheldon Fisher added 12 for Polson (8-7 overall).
The Pirates have three Northwestern A games left in the regular season, starting with a road game against Libby on Saturday. Eureka heads to Troy tonight for the District 7B regular-season finale.

BIGFORK — The ninth-ranked Bigfork Valkyries checked off another goal for the season — finishing undefeated at home.
Mallery Knoll had 19 points and five assists, Caitlin Charlebois had 10 points, six assists and seven steals and the Vals improved to 14-3 overall and 7-0 at home with one regular-season game left before the District 7B tournament.
“We ran the press break really well tonight and I thought we played better when we pressured the ball,” Bigfork coach Mark Hansen said.
Jessica Slaybaugh made three 3-pointers en route to 16 points for Whitefish (1-15 overall).
Quinci Paine had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Kailey Fierro added 10 points for Bigfork, who play at Ronan on Saturday.

EUREKA — Breanne Kelley scored 11 of her game-high 16 points in the second quarter to put Polson on a run 17-2 run that led the Lady Pirates to the nonconference road victory.
Riley Kenney had 12 points, Nicole Davey added 11 and Polson improved to 12-3 overall.
Alyssa White paced Eureka with 12 points and Tayler Holder had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
“They outrebounded us, that was the big thing,” Eureka coach John Hammond said. “Tonight we were outmanned.”
Polson returns to Northwestern A play with a road-game at Libby on Saturday. Eureka (9-8) wraps up the District 7B regular season at Troy tonight.
