Brendon Limpo cuts limbs from a tree infected with Dutch elm disease on Second Avenue East on Tuesday morning in Kalispell. Limpo is part of the crew from Aspen Urban Forestry that will take down about five infected trees per day, depending on the size and location of the trees. Crews will work in one-block areas along Second Avenue this week and into early next week, according to Mike Baker, Kalispell Parks and Recreation director. He said that after that crews would begin working on Third Avenue East. Tree work will continue into April to remove 75 to 90 trees in Kalispell.

Shelly Whitman dips a section of yarn Friday morning into a custom mixture of dye in an old sheep feeding pan. The yarns retail from $11.95 to $28.95 a skein, depending on texture and fiber. Whitman models her colors after the flora and fauna of Northwest Montana.

Ingraham and members of the speech and debate team have been practicing this week preparing for their divisional tournament on Saturday.

The house belonging to Thomas and Michelle Shaffer caught fire on Jan. 10. A three-car garage, loft bedroom and laundry room were lost in the fire. It will take approximately four to six months before the home is ready to be occupied again.
