Bailey up by 5 shots; Iverson slips to 3rd Men State Am
BILLINGS - Nathan Bailey of Forsyth shot a sizzling 6-under 66 Friday to take the lead at the 93rd Montana State Men's Amateur golf tournament at Yellowstone Country Club.
Bailey, who was tied for second after Thursday's play, was the lone golfer to break 70 on the third day of play.
Bailey, 70-71-66-207, has a five-shot lead on Charlie Von Arentschildt of Deer Lodge heading into today's final round.
Von Arentschildt, 68-72-72-212, was the leader after 18 and 36 holes.
Larry Iverson of Kalispell carded a 2-over round to slip back to third place. Iverson, 72-69-74-215, is eight shots off the pace.
Iverson, who had the best round of the day on Thursday along with Brad Fox of Billings, was just one shot behind Von Arentschildt when play started Friday.
Whitefish's Shawn Tucker, 76-73-76-225 is in a three-way tie for 15th place along with last year's champ - Bill Dunn of Missoula.
Grahm Schmaltz of Kalispell, 74-74-80-228, is in a four-way tie for 20th.
