Lakers drop Twins

Kalispell used two big innings to remain perfect in Western AA American Legion baseball action Tuesday at Griffin Field.

The Lakers scored four runs in the third inning and came right back with five more in the fifth to down the Glacier Twins 9-4.

Kalispell (17-5 overall and 4-0 league) used three doubles in the third inning to key the rally. Dillon Matteson clubbed a two-run double to right-center field, Cody Dopps doubled off the outfield wall to drive in a run and Michael O’Connell also clubbed an RBI double.

The extra base binge continued in the fifth when Zach Brosten slammed a two-run double.

Matteson, 2-for-5, had three RBIs.

Mat O’Brien and Marshall Boyland both went 2-for-4 for the Lakers.

Carl Talsma and Jeremy Nielson both had two hits for Glacier.

Kalispell is back in Thursday with a league game at Missoula. The Lakers then head for the Summer Palouse Tournament in Pullman, Wash., Friday through Sunday.

Glacier (11-17 overall) hosts Missoula on Friday.
