Mavs bounce back, defeat Twins 7-4
WHITEFISH — Missoula thwarted a comeback attempt by Glacier in the ninth inning to claim a 7-4 AA American Legion baseball victory Friday night at Memorial Field.
Glacier’s Dustin VonFeldt homered in the ninth, a solo shot to center field, to get the Twins within three. But the game ended with Twins leaving the bases loaded.
“Not getting timely hits with runners on,” Twins coach Lindsay Fansler said.
“We just left too many runners on base.”
Kyler Blades had a big game offensively for Glacier, going 3-for-4.
Glacier outhit Missoula 11-8.
Riley King homered twice for Missoula, a solo shot in the second and a three-run blast in the third.
Brody Miller also homered for Missoula in the third inning.
Missoula (32-2 overall and 1-1 league) and Glacier (12-18 and 0-5) meet again today at 1 p.m. at Memorial Field.
Missoula had its 23-game winning streak snapped by the Kalispell Lakers on Thursday.
