A motorist in serious condition was flown via ALERT to Kalispell Regional Medical Center following a single-vehicle accident along Foothill Road around 11:30 p.m. Monday. A passenger, who did not sustain serious injury, was also treated at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
The incident occurred when a Dodge Caravan, southbound on Foothill Road, became airborne after it missed a 90 degree turn and hit a telephone box and fence debris, landing in a pasture. The vehicle apparently did not roll, but was extensively damaged.
The airbags deployed, but it appeared that seatbelts were not used, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Roger Dundas, who responded to the crash.
Two occupants of the vehicle left the site soon after the crash occurred and walked to a nearby Foothill Road home. They told the resident that a third person was still at the scene, injured. The resident then called 911.
Dundas said excessive speed didn’t appear to have been a factor and the issue of alcohol impairment in the crash is still under investigation.
Blocking the door with an ax, a woman attempted to bar a man inside a Martin City residence Tuesday afternoon. When he pushed it open, she fell backward. The man also accused her of disabling his vehicle so he couldn’t drive away. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating.
Deputies located an intoxicated woman who took off on foot from a Whitefish Stage residence around 4 a.m. Tuesday and gave her a ride home.
A group of six to eight leather-clad motorcyclists were apparently playing loud music and refusing to leave a U.S. 2 East property Monday afternoon. They were gone when deputies arrived.
The large rock in the roadway by the House of Mystery was removed soon after 5 p.m. Monday.
The intoxicated pedestrian stumbling on Shady Lane Monday night was gone when deputies arrived.
Deputies responded to a report of a dog locked in a van for more than nine hours Monday. Although the animal was indeed locked in the car, it did have food and water.
Tools, mail and miscellaneous items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Ptarmigan Road.

During a traffic stop along Second Avenue West around midnight Monday, Kalispell Police said they noticed an open can of alcoholic beverage in the cupholder and marijuana in plain sight. Officers arrested the 21-year-old man for his second DUI, driving while suspended, not having insurance, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing, and having an open container.
Hearing that a fight was about to occur, police arrived at Glacier High School Monday afternoon, but did not locate anything suspicious.
A woman called police to say her son had been hit by a car Monday afternoon. She said she would call back after she took him to the doctor, as he had leg pain. But, as of 1 a.m. Tuesday, police hadn’t heard a word.
A house on Tenth Avenue West was egged sometime Monday night. There are no suspects.
Officers responded to a report of a barking dog in a Garland Street backyard around 5:15 p.m. Monday. Although police observed that neither dog was barking excessively, officers advised the owners of their neighbor’s sensitivity to barking.
Officers chased down a runaway tire around 8:46 p.m. Monday and returned it to its owner.
The man seen attempting to kick in a door and kicking cars in the parking lot of an inn on U.S. 93 South was counseled.
A man seen skateboarding in the middle of First Avenue West around noon Tuesday was gone when police arrived.
Officers received 70 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Monday and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Monday afternoon, six people were seen hanging out around Idaho Avenue in Whitefish, drinking and smoking. The group appeared suspicious because one member had a pistol. Whitefish Police contacted the group and learned they were just getting ready to head out to a shooting range.

Columbia Falls Police received 18 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
