A woman beat a car with a shovel while arguing with her boyfriend around 6 p.m. Thursday at a Kings Loop residence. The argument apparently concerned prescription medication. Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies responded to calls from the house three times in five hours, removing the woman twice. The saga ended after the woman, shaking the door to try to get in, was given her car keys and drove off.
A Pit Bull bit a 10-year-old in Martin City Thursday around 6 p.m. The boy sustained minor injuries and the dog was taken to the shelter. Deputies later learned the dog lived at a nearby residence that appeared to have been broken into sometime Thursday afternoon. The back door had been left wide open, freeing the dog. Nothing has yet been reported missing.
A patrolling deputy spotted a middle-aged couple getting close inside a Dodge car parked at Lybecks around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
A safe and an impact drill were stolen from a Columbia Falls auto retailer sometime Thursday night. Employees noticed no signs of forced entry into the business. Based on marks on the floor, it appears the perpetrator dragged the safe to a central area, then loaded it onto a dolly and wheeled it out. The approximately 2-by-2-foot safe, worth about $200, contained nothing of value and hadn’t been used in two years. The drill was valued at around $300.
A man called around 9:40 a.m. Friday to report a handgun as stolen. Deputies informed him he had reported it stolen a year ago.
A perturbed Cedar Drive resident called deputies after a car pulled in to a neighbor’s driveway, shining its lights into the resident’s house. Six people then reportedly got out of the car and stared into the resident’s house. Around 7:45 p.m. the suspicious people reportedly drove off in a white car parked nearby.
Unsafe towing was reported in the Helena Flats area Thursday night when a truck without its headlights on was seen towing a blue car.
A computer and a radar detector were stolen from a vehicle parked along Resthaven Drive Thursday afternoon.
A loose dog attacked a woman near Anglepoint bus stop Thursday.
A 67-year-old man was caught attempting to shoplift groceries from a Bigfork grocery around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. When stopped, the man offered to pay for the sausages, frozen fish, coffee and other food items. He was cited and released.
Around 4 a.m. Friday, deputies found a passed-out man sitting in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle along Helena Flats Court. Discovering he had been drinking, deputies arrested the 18-year-old for DUI.
Deputies received 133 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday.
Church members called Kalispell Police after observing a man breaking beer bottles in the Summit Ridge Drive parking lot Thursday evening. They told police the man was probably trapped, as the gate was most likely closed. Arriving officers located a broken coffee cup, but an open gate, and noted the man had escaped.
A 28-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting reading glasses from a mall accessories store.
A bicycle with knobby tires and a red basket valued around $1,200 was reported stolen from outside an apartment around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Employees of a coffee shop on South Main noticed a van full of kids in the parking lot around 9:30 p.m. Thursday and worried drug activity might be going on. The van was gone when officers arrived.
Hearing a man was being held at gunpoint, officers arrived at an inn on U.S. 93 South Thursday night. When officers were unable to locate a gun, the man began to change his story and wouldn’t comply with orders. The 52-year-old was arrested for resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer and making a false report to law enforcement.
