Columbus rally knocks out Bigfork

BELGRADE — For the second day in a row at the Class B state girls basketball tournament, the fourth quarter did Bigfork in.

The Valkyries were outscored by Columbus 25-14 during that stretch on Friday, resulting in a 61-60 loss in loser-out play.

On Thursday in the first round, Fairfield outscored Bigfork 21-12 in the fourth quarter en route to a 56-49 victory.

Bigfork (20-6) led 20-12 and 38-27 after the first two quarters.

Quinci Paine carried the Bigfork offensive load, scoring 22 points. Caitlin Charlebois finished with 15 and and Mallery Knoll added 11.

Columbus’ Bailey Wilson led all scorers with 24 points.

In the other loser-out game, Missoula Loyola downed Three Forks 57-46.
