Deputies break up underage party

Flathead County sheriff’s deputies ended up arresting a dozen kids early Sunday who were at a drinking party on Whitefish Lake Road. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials helped round them up. One boy ran off into the woods and couldn’t be found.

The sheriff’s office is investigating a report of sexual abuse against a 9-year-old girl.

Snowmobilers who were reported overdue at 10 p.m. Saturday were found about 2 a.m. Sunday. One of the men reportedly struck a tree with his snowcat and had to ride back out on the other man’s snowmobile.

Prowling wasn’t tolerated on Conrad Drive Saturday night, when a resident heard a man outside around the house talking on the phone and saying something about Woodland Park. He reportedly spotted the prowler in some bushes and went looking for him. When deputies joined the search around 11:30 p.m., he couldn’t be found.

The Upper Whitefish Lake gravel pit reportedly was the scene of a juvenile party about midnight. One of the partyers reportedly used a skid loader to make a road into the Stillwater Forest from there. Deputies, assisted by U.S. Border Patrol agents, found only one vehicle and no people.

Even though the gray 2006 Chrysler 300 was parked in the garage at a home on Creekside Drive and the keys were hidden in the car, it was reported stolen Sunday morning.

A man said his 1987 pickup was stolen from his home on North Cedar. Friends helped him track it to Foy’s Lake, where several items reportedly were missing from it.

On Morning View Drive a house and vehicle were egged early Sunday, just moments before a Chevy pickup took off from the area.

Somebody tried unsuccessfully to get into a house on Kelly Road.

Sometime in the last three or four days, the owner said, an 8-foot turquoise-blue boat tied up along Ashley Creek was stolen.

Antlers valued at $9,000 — nine sets of them — were reported stolen from Flathead Lake Lodge. There’s a $1,000 reward for their return.

After reporting jewelry stolen from a dresser drawer at a U.S. 93 home south of Whitefish, the owner remembered hiding them under a pillow.

Someone stole all the stuff out of his shed while he was in Texas, the Truman Heights resident told deputies.

On Cougar Trail near Bigfork, a resident said a woman stole a dog from his property. When deputies arrived at the suspect’s home, they spotted the pooch and returned it to the original owner.

A vehicle got stuck some distance up Patrick Creek Road then had its contents stolen, the owner reported Sunday afternoon.

Deputies received 162 calls for help between 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday

Lake County officials are investigating a report of child abuse that allegedly occurred in Flathead County. The father had custody of the child until noon Saturday; the child was found with a bruise after being picked up and taken back to Lake County that evening.

Whitefish police arrested a 17-year-old boy Saturday afternoon after he allegedly broke into his family’s home on Highland Drive and discharged a firearm inside the house. His father reportedly told the boy, who lives elsewhere, that he was not allowed in the house. The father was not present when the teen entered, reportedly accompanied by three girls, but a brother was at home and reported the intrusion. Pending charges include burglary, criminal mischief and possibly criminal endangerment.

A Central Avenue restaurant employee reported his pickup truck’s tires were slashed while it was parked outside Saturday night.

Somebody reported a man hit a woman while the couple was in a black SUV on Wisconsin Avenue about midnight. They couldn’t be located.

On Burly Bear Trail, an antique stove was reported stolen from a home’s porch.

Vandalism was reported to three buildings and trucks on Texas Street near Denver Street. Several places in the Crestwood Court area were spray-painted with graffiti.

Kalispell police investigated a reported attempted carjacking at a bar and restaurant on U.S. 93 South Sunday morning. The bartender said a large man tried to grab an elderly couple’s keys as they were entering the building, but fled when he was unsuccessful.

A man in dark clothing walked toward her unoccupied but running vehicle on Second Avenue and Seventh Street East, but took off running when the owner approached Saturday night, she reported.

A father told police that a man looked in the windows of their home on Eighth Avenue East while his daughters were playing video games.

A boy’s backpack with a math textbook, iPod, khaki pants and uniform shirt went missing at a Catholic church on South Main Saturday night.

Having no liability insurance and being a habitual offender were the allegations against a 21-year-old man in a traffic stop at West Idaho and Meridian Road Saturday night. The 34-year-old woman with him was arrested for obstructing a peace officer.

Police are investigating a theft and burglary reported on Woodland Avenue.

An unlocked Fuji bicycle was reported stolen from a backyard on Fifth Avenue East.

Officers received 70 calls for help between 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Columbia Falls police arrested two men for drunk driving during traffic stops in nearly the same place on U.S. 2 West over the weekend. On Saturday a 26-year-old man was taken into custody, and on Sunday it was a 42-year-old man.

Officers received 34 calls for help between 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Alarms

West Valley Fire Department was called for a chimney fire on Two Mile Drive just after 10 p.m. Saturday. The owner shut down the damper, and the scene was cleared within an hour.

Evergreen Fire Department discovered the reported smoke and possible fire on Helena Flats Road early Sunday were nothing more than a greenhouse keeping its plants happy. Later in the morning, the department and Flathead Electric Cooperative were called for a power line that had fallen onto East Evergreen Drive near Valley Victory Church.

Kalispell Interagency Dispatch Center sent an initial attack team and four two-person engine crews to knock down a grass fire on Farm to Market Road Sunday afternoon.
