A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a two-motorcycle crash early Tuesday morning.
The Kalispell man in his 30s and a friend were heading home from a party when the collision occurred near the intersection of U.S. 93 and Reserve Drive around 1 a.m., according to Kalispell Police Senior Sgt. Allen Bardwell.
Both men were transported by ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. The man in his 30s reportedly was bleeding from his ear and mouth and was unresponsive at the scene.
The second Kalispell man involved, 40, has since been released. He was subsequently arrested for DUI and for refusing a breathalyzer test.
Neither were wearing helmets.
“It’s safe to say alcohol was a factor in the accident,” said Bardwell. He noted that excessive speed did not appear to have been a factor.
Both men were southbound on U.S. 93, heading home from a party in Columbia Heights, when the 40-year-old began to slow in order to turn right onto Reserve Drive. The man in his 30s was traveling behind him and apparently rear-ended him at that point.
Elsewhere, Kalispell police counseled a man seen riding a skateboard luge-style down Woodland Hill at 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Around 5 a.m., a woman called police, concerned about a suspicious something that hit her house, shaking it and waking her up. Officers investigated, but could not locate anything that appeared to have hit or damaged the Jubliee Court residence.
Officers received 60 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Monday and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A 72-year-old man was escorted off a plane around 8 p.m. Monday after he reportedly threatened to “punch the lights out” of another passenger. The conflict reportedly began after a flight attendedant asked him to change seats. He was arrested for disorderly conduct by Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies.
A parent was counseled after bringing a toddler into a casino on Montana 35 Monday night.
A busted up green recliner was spread all over U.S. 93 South around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Deputies were unable to locate the source of the gunshots heard around Sportsman’s Bridge the last few nights.
A Martin City resident reported that blood was dripping from the attic around 1:14 a.m. Tuesday. A deputy investigated the situation and determined it was syrup that had spilled onto the floor some time previously.
A woman has raised a dog as her own after finding the stray two years ago, but now a neighbor is claiming the dog belongs to her. Deputies gave advice.
Deputies received 111 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A woman was lying in the middle of Baker Avenue and Second Street around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Whitefish Police removed her from the street and determined she was OK.
