Woman saved from aggressive dog

A man in a blue truck saved a woman from a threatening dog Wednesday evening. She and her daughter were walking two dogs along Cottonwood Road when a pit bull charged them. The man happened to drive by and diffused the situation by gently tapping the attacking dog with his truck, scaring it away.

Vacation photos from Las Vegas, a four-piece nail set, makeup and $45 in cash were stolen from a Helena Flats Road residence Wednesday, according to a report made to Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies.

Teens spotted in a dugout at a Talbot Road baseball field were gone when deputies arrived around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Two Labrador retrievers from Shady Lane each killed a chicken Wednesday evening. Deputies cited the dogs’ owner for letting the dogs run at large.

Asked to watch the dog of an incarcerated friend, a Solberg Drive resident reported that the animal was too difficult to manage and it was taken to the shelter Thursday morning.

A man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt who appeared to be in his late teens was seen hiding in the bushes outside a therapeutic group home on Windward Way around 5:14 a.m. Thursday. He was gone when police arrived.

Around 5 p.m., a customer at a liquor store on Third Avenue East was seen buying alcohol for people who appeared to be underage.

Smelling what have been marijuana, a concerned citizen called police to a Fourth Avenue East alley around 5 p.m. Wednesday. Officers cited one for possession of drug paraphernalia after finding a suspicious tube.

An older man and a child were seen pushing a shopping cart along Whitefish Stage Road around 7 p.m. Wednesday and it was believed the two had stolen the items in the cart. Police determined they were delivering papers.

One was removed from a bar on U.S. 2 after a fight in the parking lot around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Someone loosened all the lug nuts on a vehicle parked on Hawthorn Avenue.

An aggressive bearded panhandler wearing a red coat left a West Idaho dry cleaners before police arrived Wednesday afternoon.

Whitefish Police arrested a man after his involvement in a fight that left one man with a broken nose around 12:45 a.m. Thursday.

Around 2:11 a.m. Thursday, Columbia Falls Police arrested a 33-year-old woman for DUI near the intersection of Third Avenue East and Seventh Street East.

Alarms

Big Mountain Ambulance transported three people to North Valley Hospital Thursday. A 50-year-old woman, 16-year-old girl and 38-year-old man all sustained back injuries in separate incidences on the mountain.

Following a single-vehicle rollover near Jewel Basin around 6:13 p.m. Wednesday, one person with unknown injuries was flown via ALERT to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Responding to a report of a flaming semi along U.S. 93 South, Montana Highway Patrol and Whitefish Fire learned the fire was, in fact, a controlled burn that happened to be near the truck.
