Kalispell police tried but couldn’t locate a tall man in a red coat reportedly passing out $100 bills in Woodland Park Saturday evening.

A group of guys having a fight at Third Street and First Avenue West, with one of them saying he was “going to blow his brains out,” turned out to be theatrics. The four on hand when police arrived said they were making a YouTube video.

Arrest on two felony warrants, having no valid driver’s license and no liability insurance were the upshot of a traffic stop for a 31-year-old man Saturday night. Another traffic stop, this one on U.S. 93 South, ended with citations for DUI and violating driver’s license restrictions for a 42-year-old man. A third stop, this time at U.S. 2 and Meridian Road, ended with a 19-year-old woman’s arrest for possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Two boys were arrested in an early Sunday traffic stop on West Idaho.

Police were called twice a Center Street hotel where Sen. Jon Tester spoke Saturday night — once for extra patrol, and later for picketers who were standing on the hotel property; they peacefully moved to the sidewalk.

Officers visited the same Airport Road casino twice Saturday night. First it was for a fight among several people, in which a man reportedly assaulted someone and then left. An hour later it was for theft of survival gear and knives from an unlocked vehicle.

On Rimrock Court, a man ran across someone’s front porch and was near the garage when the resident called police. Police found the reportedly intoxicated man near Bluestone Drive and Belmar Drive and gave him a ride to his home.

Three 20-year-olds, an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested at a Liberty Street apartment for being minors in possession early Sunday.

Two callers reported a reckless driver Sunday morning at Second Avenue East North and Nevada Street, where a driver was racing by at speeds in excess of 50 mph. He had sped away when police arrived.

After having some items stolen from his house last week, then spotting a kid from the suspects’ home walking the street at 4 a.m., a Sixth Avenue West resident called police Sunday afternoon when he saw the youth sitting on the resident’s front lawn. He asked them to tell the suspects to stay away or he “will seriously hurt them.”

A vehicle with doors that won’t lock, keys in the car and a very low gas tank was reported stolen from Sixth Avenue West Saturday night. It was found abandoned on the side of the road at Mountain View and Maple.

Officers received 97 calls for assistance between 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Flathead County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a reported Saturday night sexual assault against a 14-year-old girl.

A 19-year-old man reportedly got verbally violent and out of control at a home on Moon Ridge Drive Saturday night. A caller was concerned about an 11-year-old in the house. The suspect left on foot.

A guy reportedly showed up at a Maple Drive house Sunday morning and knocked on a window, wanting to talk to the 15-year-old daughter of the caller’s girlfriend. The young man reportedly smelled of alcohol and got mouthy when the resident told him to leave, then recklessly sped away.

Juveniles partying at a Martin City home apparently didn’t turn out to be the problem that a caller reported Saturday night. But, after checking records on five people there, deputies arrested a 22-year-old man on misdemeanor warrants.

A prisoner in the jail was put on safety watch Saturday night.

It happened one night too many: A woman walking her dog heard shots possibly from the west side of Sportsman’s Bridge, the geese scattered, and she called the sheriff.

Two people came into a casino and asked the clerk to call police about people stealing gas from a nearby RV business early Sunday. They were gone when deputies arrived.

Spray painting the walls inside a hotel in Hungry Horse was a civil matter, deputies advised the owner.

Burglary investigation is under way at a business where the office reportedly was broken into and the side door was completely broken.

Whitefish police got a report of a pink wallet lost in a supermarket parking lot on U.S. 93 South Saturday night.

One person went to jail and the other went to the hospital after police stopped for a tipped-over motorcycle at Spokane Avenue and First Street early Sunday.

A woman came to the police station early Sunday, reporting she had been doused with fuel. A family member picked her up.

Trying to tip over the outhouse at the skate park earned three teens a counseling session with police Sunday afternoon.

The door to his residence was open when he awoke Sunday morning, a man at a lodge on Wisconsin Avenue told police.

Columbia Falls police arrested a 25-year-old man for possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia after checking into a noise complaint on Martha Road Saturday night.

Officers received nine calls for assistance between 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Alarms

Flathead Electric Cooperative and the South Kalispell, Smith Valley and Kalispell fire departments were dispatched for an out-of-control burn at Shefferd Lane and U.S. 93 Saturday afternoon.

Kalispell fire was called after smoke was spotted on the roof of an orthopedic office Saturday evening. Firefighters located the source.

Bigfork and Ferndale firefighters were called to a fire that spread to a barn on Rocky Woods Lane outside Bigfork Saturday afternoon.

Somers Fire Department went to a fire that engulfed a shed on Manning Road Saturday night.

Creston Fire quickly put out a blaze on Deer Foot Trail after flames in three brush piles got out of control and headed into the trees. The fire was turned over to the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
