Three Whitefish Mountain Resort skiers were among the qualifying racers for the recent Junior Olympics at Mount Bachelor, Ore.

Only 10 boys and seven girls from Montana qualified for the March 18-21 competition, and among them were Anna Jobe, Erin Tabish and Nevada Kramer of the Whitefish ski team.

They tested their skills against skiers from the entire western region, including California, Oregon, Alaska and Utah.

The Junior Olympics were the culmination of the season for junior alpine skiers in the J3 Division.

The race schedule included Super-G training and races in Super G, giant slalom and slalom.

Top results for the local skiers were Jobe’s eight place in giant slalom and 19th place in slalom and Tabish’s 24th place in slalom.

Kramer came away satisfied with his times in Super G, which were close to some toughest regional competitors in the division.

Coach Dick Collins accompanied the skiers and was pleased with their performance.

While the J3 age group competed in Oregon, the Whitefish Mountain Resort Ski Team’s younger skiers participated in the Tommy Moe Duel Slalom event at Whitefish Mountain Resort.

Close to 50 skiers, ages 5 to 12, competed, with the winners getting prizes that included T-shirts and medals signed by Moe, the winner of two Olympic medals in alpine skiing.

This year’s winner was Brittain Walton, followed by Oliver Van Everen and Katherine Millette.
