Flathead falls to Bengals, Bruins

HELENA — One bad inning foiled Flathead against Helena Capital on Saturday in Western AA softball play.

The Bruins scored six runs in the first inning en route to a 10-0 victory over the Bravettes.

It was a much different outcome than the first meeting on April 17 in Kalispell. Capital escaped with a 1-0 victory in that one.

Capital outhit Flathead 8-4 to take the season series. Alexa Mrgich went 2-for-2 for FHS.

Flathead’s offense struggled in its other outing of the day, a 5-0 loss to Helena High. The Bengals broke open a scoreless battle with three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth. Flathead was held to three hits in that contest, singles by Mrgich, Casey Roylston and Sidney Alberts.

Flathead (1-12 overall and 0-10 league) plays a doubleheader at Missoula Hellgate on Saturday.
