Tree falls on house in windstorm

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a rash of reports of trees falling on power lines and in at least one case, a house, after a powerful windstorm swept through the Flathead Valley Monday afternoon.

A man called to report that he had been assaulted by his 17-year-old son at a residence on Fourth Street West North in the Columbia Falls area. No one was arrested, and it was decided that the boy would find another place to live.

Four vehicles were rifled through on the 1800 block of Morning View Drive, but it was unknown if items were taken.

A five-foot wide set of moose antlers were reported stolen at a residence on the 1800 block of Lower Valley Road.

A decorative sign was stolen from a residence on the 1900 block of Helena Flats Road.

A four-wheeler was reported stolen from a residence on the 1300 block of Willow Glen Drive.

Items were reported stolen from a condominium on Grand View Drive in Bigfork.

A woman found her dog shot dead while it was tied to a tree at her ex-husband’s house on Rabe Road in the Columbia Falls area. The ex-husband has been out-of-town so he is not a suspect, but a suspect has been identified.

In a road-rage incident on Montana 206, a woman reported that a man was tailgating her and yelling at her as he passed her vehicle.

A woman turned herself in at the sheriff’s lobby, and was arrested on a felony warrant.

A vehicle was egged on the 2000 block of Mission Trail.

Sunday, a man called to report that he was being threatened by his girlfriend at home on the 500 block of Willow Glen Drive. The two were separated for the night.

A Blue Star Ranch Road resident reported that people were discharging shotguns nearby and the pellets were landing on top of the house. The shooters were advised to cease.

A Landmark Lane resident in the Bigfork area reported that two grizzly bears were in his yard on Saturday, and Sunday they were in the neighbor’s yard. The matter was referred to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

There was a report of a house being egged on the 500 block of Country Way.

Responding to a report of a disturbance on the 300 block of Harbin Hill Road, deputies ended up arresting a man on a misdemeanor warrant.

A man and woman were separated for the night by deputies responding to a disturbance report on the 2000 block of East Edgewood Drive.

A teenage girl reported that her intoxicated father was threatening her at a Lower Valley Road residence. After finding two young children at the residence and determining the father was too intoxicated, the Department of Family Services was called.

Sheriff’s dispatch had 134 log entries between 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Responding to a report of a fight at a residence on the 600 block of Fifth Avenue West North Sunday night, Kalispell Police arrested a man, 29, for partner-family member assault.

There was a report of a person driving around the Fifth Avenue East area, shooting some type of pistol at squirrels.

There was a report of a dog being kept in a pickup truck cab near Fifth Avenue West and 10th Street West. The owner was providing the dog with food and water and keeping it there temporarily.

There was another report of a dog being kept in a truck on the 500 block of 10th Street West. It turned out the owner was keeping it there while he was building a kennel.

Early Monday, a woman called to report that her boyfriend was “going crazy” at a residence on the 1000 block of Seventh Street West. No one was arrested in the incident.

An alert officer spotted a male and female suspiciously running down an alley off Sixth Street West. The woman was apprehended and arrested on a warrant.

A clerk reported that teenage boys had stolen items from a store on U.S. 93 South. The suspects’ vehicle was later located at Flathead High School and arrests were made.

A glass door was kicked and shattered at the Glacier Church on Grandview Drive.

There was a report of CDs, a backpack, a portable music player and prescription drugs being stolen from a truck on Second Street East.

There were 59 log entries between 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Responding to a report of suspicious activity near a footbridge off Baker Avenue, Whitefish Police ended up arresting five teenage boys for possessing tobacco and possibly smoking marijuana Monday afternoon.

Sunday, there was a report of a pistol and rifles being stolen from a storage unit on Waverly Place.

Columbia Falls Police got a report Sunday of a car being damaged while in a parking lot on U.S. 2, prompting an investigation.

A woman, 39, was arrested Monday on city court warrants at a residence on Fourth Avenue West.

There were 15 log entries between 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 p.m. Monday.
