Mahlum advances at state tennis
MISSOULA - Bigfork's Bridger Mahlum has advanced to the semifinals after two victories on Thursday in singles play at the Class B-C State Tennis Tournament.
Mahlum defeated Nathan Voeller of Cut Bank 6-0, 6-1 in the second round and Jonathan Finch from Loyola Sacred Heart 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.
Ryan Gembala and Evan Jordt also won twice for Bigfork in doubles.
In girls action, Bigfork's Jade Bosic won both her singles outings. She stopped Sadie Brown of Chester-Joplin-Inverness in the first round 6-0, 6-1 and followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kayla Leverton of Whitehall.
Bigfork's doubles team of Hannah Barrett and Claire Wilken played just once, winning 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
The tournament runs through Saturday.
