Libby's Mee, Maloney in state singles semifinals

BILLINGS - Libby's Jackie Mee edged closer to another state Class A tennis title in singles play on Thursday by posting two easy victories on the first day of play.

Mee dispensed with Stefanie Huschka of Glendive 6-0, 6-1 in the first round and then stopped Mary Ricketts of Livingston 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.

Mee is 18-0 this season and has yet to drop a set. Last year she finished 20-0.

Polson's Jane Probst also won twice on Thursday to advance. She topped Jessie Robinson of Billings Central 6-3, 6-3 and came right back to best Tabitha Hooten of Corvallis 6-4, 6-3,

In girls doubles, Kayla and Kendyall Rochin also moved on to the semifinals. They won twice on the first day, beating Gabby Weber and Trenna Thelen of Billings Central 7-6 (12-7), 6-3, and Sydnee Madruga and Lairen Phinney of Corvallis 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 (7-4).

Libby's Cree Maloney advanced to the semifinal round in boys singles. He downed James Enzel of Stevensville 6-3, 6-4 in the opening session and defeated Rusty Burshia of Hardin in the quarterfinals 6-3, 6-2.
