Shodair Soccer Classic lists 15 area players

Fifteen players from five area schools have been selected to play for the West team in the Shodair Soccer Classic on July 24 in Helena.

Bigfork and Glacier have the most selections with four each, while Whitefish and Flathead both have three. Polson has one.

Named from Bigfork are: Skyler Doak, Alec MacCallum, Lael Richmond and Kaitlyn Shults. Picked from Glacier are: Seth Bumgarner, Josh Neiman, Molly Benedetto and Maddey Frey.

Representing Flathead are; Jerrad Merill, Cody Moritt and Logun Koch.

Participating from Whitefish: Travis Adams, Matt Danczyk and Megan Apple.

Polson's selection is Peter Hanson.

This marks the 11th season this event has been held in Helena.

The Classic begins mid-week with activities for players, and culminates with the girls and boys games at 5 and 7 p.m., respectively, at Nelson Stadium on the Carroll College campus.

All participants have earned either all-state or all-conference mention. Academic achievement, leadership skills and citizenship are three other criteria used in the selection process.

According to a press release from Shodair, the hospital provided more than $4 million dollars in uncompensated care for at-risk children and youth from around the state last year. Events like the Shodair Soccer Classic help assure these services remain available for Montana families in need of help.
